Technical

Below are the Technical aspects needed to develop our players.

Qualified and Quality Technical Staff - All of our travel coaches are required to hold or obtain a coaching license.  We feel coaching education is very important to the development of our staff and we encourage coaches to continue with their education after they have obtained a license.  More importantly we also look at the character of each coach and believe human qualities are what makes a great coach.  Honesty, integrity and enjoying working with youth are a few characteristics that we feel are important in our coaches.

Each player in the Travel program will receive a player evaluation at the end of the Fall season by their team's coach.  This evaluation covers Technical, Tactical, Physical, and Psycological, the four pillars of soccer.  Full time directors perform training evaulations for every coach in the travel program, as well as match analysis each season.

Coaching Education - Chesterfield United has hosted coaching courses for our recreation and travel coaches, as well as brought in coaches outside the club to host clinics.  United FC strongly urges our coaches to continue their education.  We offer reimbursment to travel coaches who attend coaching courses and obtain a new license while employeed at United FC.

Facilities - United FC has access to 7 field sites around Chesterfield County with many of those fields having lights and turf.  Our club owns and is in the process of developing our United Training Center.  We hope to add two more fields to the three fields already at the Training Center, as well as lights and turf.

Age Appropriate Programs - At United FC we offer a number of programs for all ages.  These programs include summer camps, UT2Atlantic Soccer League, United Development Program, Mini Pumas, and United FC Juggling Club.  Our teams, rec and travel, play their games on an age appropriate field, with age appropriate size goals, with the number of players based on what is recommend by US Youth Soccer.  Please see the break down below based on the age group.

Training Priorities - Each age group has different priorites and topics that are a focus in each training session.  Our full time directors disucss these priorities with coaches to make sure they are implemented within their training session.  Our recreation program’s priorities are for players to learn basic skills and have FUN!  Please use the link to view the training priorities for UDP, U9-U12, and U13-U18 travel teams.  Please click here for more information regarding UDP.  United FC also offers Staff Sessions for our U11-U18 travel teams.  Staff sessions have been recently implemented within our travel program to give players more opportunity to train.  Training is where development happens, not in games.  A training session offers more opportunity for players to have the ball at their feet, make passes, strike the ball, dribble, deal with pressure, and make decisions on and off the ball.  By offering more training we believe we will better prepare our players for the game.

Equipment - Chesterfield United with the help of Dick’s Sporting Goods provides our recreation coaches with coaching equipment such as balls, cones, and pinnies.  Travel coaches also receive a coaching gear package including club wear by Puma.

High Standards - United FC holds our players, parents, and coaching staff to high standards on and off the field.  Each player and parent of the United FC travel program must sign a Code of Conduct at the beginning of each playing year.  This Code of Conduct outlines inappropriate behavior by players and parents on the training and game field.  Each travel coach has a signed contract every playing year.  This contract includes appropriate and inappropriate behavior guidelines and consequences.  United FC will not tolerate inappropriate behavior by players, parents, or our coaches on the game and training field.
